Hydrogen refueling station in Lyon Saint-Exupery

As part of the pioneering ‘Zero Emission Valley’ project, HRS is installing an H2 station for Hympulsion at Lyon Saint-Exupéry, which is inaugurated in June 2025.

HYMPULSION

Background to the project

With strong regional roots, HRS has been selected by Hympulsion to supply several hydrogen refueling stations, thereby connecting the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region to promote low-carbon mobility.

Expansion of the territorial network of hydrogen stations

In the Lyon metropolitan area, HRS installs two stations at key confluence points : Saint-Priest and Colombier-Saugnieu, close to Saint-Exupéry Airport.
The latter is inaugurated in 2025 by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region and the shareholders of HYmpulsion (ENGIE, Michelin, Banque des Territoires and Crédit Agricole) in partnership with Aéroports de Lyon.
A third H2 station will be installed in 2025 in the Rhône region by HRS teams, in Venissieux.
These are therefore three stations located within a 20-kilometre radius of the greater Lyon metropolitan area.
HRS is also installing stations for Hympulsion in Ardèche, in the Drôme and inIsère.

A region at the forefront of hydrogen technology

Since 2017, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, under the leadership of Laurent Wauquiez, has positioned itself as a key player in the development of the hydrogen sector, with the ambition of accelerating the energy transition, decarbonising transport and industry, and promoting its industrial assets. With a unique ecosystem in France, the Zero Emission Valley (ZEV) project, led by HYmpulsion, aims to create an integrated, profitable and sustainable hydrogen mobility sector. This project plans to gradual introduction of 80 heavy duty vehicles and 200 light commercial vehicles by 2027, reaching a total of more than 1,000 vehicles by 2028. This ambitious strategy will make the region a European benchmark for carbon-free mobility.

Solution provided by HRS

HRS installs a hydrogen station HRS40 (1 ton/day) near Saint-Exupéry Airport.

Located on a strategic road axis and capable of refuelling heavy vehicles at 700 bar or 350 bar with up to 1 ton of hydrogen per day, this station is compatible with the European Union's AFIR Regulation.

Versatile, it can be powered by all types of hydrogen (green, blue, grey, etc.) Integrated into the Hympulsion network, it is open to the public.

Client testimonial

This station strengthens our network in a strategic location at the heart of a multimodal hub that brings together rail, road and air transport. This new station is a good example of the model deployed by HYmpulsion, with three operational stations within a radius of less than 20 kilometres. Finally, this project confirms the commitment of our shareholders and the regional ecosystem to continue developing hydrogen in the region, particularly in a location that is highly symbolic of mobility in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
